Can you ask if they have instructions from AT&T for moving grandfathered unlimited plans to the iPad2?:)

Stonebriar Frisco update, about 60 in line. Apple rep going down line asking if we have any questions and will try to give us answers.

Asked about what and when accessories are available

Ask about how many per person

Asked about qnty of each available

Asked about flow when doors open at 5:00

And if we do not want personal setup is there an express pay lane

A very fair point. But even within that (relatively) limited domain, I believe attempting to trademark a 'generic' word (i.e. not an artificial label/title), especially one which was already in common usage in many other companies products is farcical :- to me at least.

To look at a parallel, I think Sony should have fought harder to protect their Walkman moniker, but shouldn't under any circumstances have been given the trademarks "Walk" or "Man". If companies want to protect their trademarks - fine, then they shouldn't choose generic, everyday words. IMO.

So should Apple not have been granted any of their trademarks for use of the word "Apple?"

I wonder how many turtlenecks he has?

I bet his closet is similar to the closet in the old Nickelodeon cartoon Doug. If anyone was the age to remember, that is.

Pour all their R&D into technologies that don't even exist yet, while continuing to throw up excuses for why they can't include technologies that do. Like Blu-Ray.

What I mean is that DLNA seems to be always used in the context of "I am here, and my media is over there". For example, I have music or movies stored on a remote server or a NAS, and I want to bring it into the device I'm currently sitting at (a TV, an iPod or iPad, a PS3, another computer).

Whereas AirPlay seems to be the opposite: "My media is here, but I want to play it over there". You use AirPlay to redirect the audio/video output from your iPhone or iPad or computer to a remote A/V device like your stereo receiver or Apple TV.

DLNA can actually work either way, depending on what device classes are supported. From Wikipedia (

Digital Media Server (DMS): These devices store content and make it available to networked digital media players (DMP) and digital media renderers (DMR). Examples include PCs and network attached storage (NAS) devices.

Digital Media Player (DMP): These devices find content on digital media servers (DMS) and provide playback and rendering capabilities. Examples include TVs, stereos and home theaters, wireless monitors and game consoles.

Digital Media Renderer (DMR): These devices play content received from a digital media controller (DMC), which will find content from a digital media server (DMS). Examples include TVs, audio/video receivers, video displays and remote speakers for music.

Digital Media Controller (DMC): These devices find content on digital media servers (DMS) and play it on digital media renderers (DMR). Examples include Internet tablets, Wi-Fi enabled digital cameras and personal digital assistants (PDAs).

    So, in Apple terms:

DMS is like a shared iTunes library.

DMP is "pull", analogous to when an Apple TV is accessing your library via iTunes Home Sharing.

DMR is a target for "push", analogous to using an Apple TV as an AirPlay output.

DMC is like the Remote app, or what iTunes/iOS turn into when you switch on AirPlay.

(I have no clue how many TVs out there that act as a DMP can also be set to automatically work as a DMR.)

WOW! the evidence youve accumulated is astounding:confused::rolleyes:

    No advertising=more sales:confused:

Want to quote where I said that? Perhaps you and the ready2switch can find a set of words in my comment that actually mean that. I can't. Not even in the parts you quoted.

    What I've said are:

    - Sales would be higher now than six months ago regardless of what advertising Apple did. No advertising, bad advertising, good advertising. The fact is that Apple's PowerPC line was Osbourned. People were waiting for Intel Macs. They weren't about to buy machines Steve Jobs was telling the world were obsolete.

    - Apple's current advertising is bad. It insults its current target audience. If Apple wasn't insulting its target audience, sales would be higher.

It's easy. It's also blatantly obvious.

Why are you pushing your opnions as fact?....

I agree with ready2switch below me

I don't have an opinion on what an opnion is. If you meant "opinion" though, I suggest you avoid any further posting. After all, you wouldn't want to express your opinions would you? Doing so would be "pushing" them as facts, right?

This is all they have now

    MagSafe power port
    Gigabit Ethernet port
    Mini DisplayPort
Two USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps)
    Audio in/out
    Kensington lock slot

That audio in/out is definitely your standard headphone/mic connection. If you or your friend didn't understand this, I feel sorry for you.

A very sad video of Steve Jobs has been posted online. I already feel like an evil voyeur for viewing it, so I don't want to link to it...but I'm almost in tears.

Actually, I see it's already being discussed on MacRumors:

:( I am starting to think why do i have a mac, as i need so many dam adapters.

Exacly what a friend of mine said when he got his new macbook and found out he needed to buy new adapters since in the 3 years they removed many (such as the analogue audio ports)

I really want .mac, but it's just not compelling enough.

I keep my bookmarks sync'd between my Mac at home and my PC at work in Firefox with Foxmarks. Free extension.

I use gmail and yahoo for webmail. 2+gb of storage each. I'm debating which to stick with for calendar. I can use gmail and sync ical to it right now. However someone is already starting a service ( will let you completely sync Google cal and ical by being able to make changes to both (effectively duplicating what .mac gives you)

I could convert another gmail account into storage space with a plug in. Right now I use mediamax ( for 25gb of FREE storage.

Flickr offers ways to publish right from iphoto for a very easy and free way to share photos online.

So for me to cough up the dough, .mac needs more, much more.

^^^I now have an idea of which part of the city you live in, and that is no Conservative stronghold.

"Save a few fighter jets"? You mean the billions of dollars that could be better spent on more important things, such as healthcare? Billions. And apparently, the numbers that the Conservatives are giving as the cost are way below what the actual cost will be.

I need to add that the other reason that people voted Conservative is because they had little confidence in Ignatief. This was due to a number of factors, which include his own doing and the smear campaign that was run against him.

I think that if a better leader would have been running the Liberals, they would have done much better.

I will be buying an 11 this summer. I am assuming the SB i5 ULV is a given and the 3000 graphics will be more than enough for me so...

    1) 128gb ssd standard (unlikely because ssd prices probably haven't fallen enough...yet)
    2) 4gb ram standard
    3) more battery life (maybe just to 6 hours, but hey its an improvement)
    4) Backlit keyboard (for aesthetics more than functionality)
    5) Thunderbolt (last because I don't really do much file transfer in the first place)

oh and include the 11 in the back to school free ipod touch deal.

Yes this still bothers me. It makes great demo, to borrow a phrase from Fearless Leader, but it's scratched in some way in the first 5 minutes and after a month, Ugh... after a year: Scratchapalooza.

Im completed annoyed! Are they nuts! How can Jon Ive present this design to Steve Jobs with a straight face when its clearly a flawed back? Do they not put this thing through real world testing?! Good lord, it makes me mad!
